Anna and Alex are the main characters of the Portuguese E-LOCAL Course. They are two Erasmus students who have come to study in Coimbra for a year.

Anna and Alex are welcomed in Coimbra by Pedro and Inês, and they start learning Portuguese during private lessons with Joana and Ricardo.

You are invited to join Anna and Alex in their discovery of the Portuguese language and culture.

Every unit opens with a story comprised of seven situations and closes with a comprehension quiz. Grammar will be explained along the unit in specific exercises. You will have an opportunity to learn a bit more of the Portuguese culture and daily life from short texts and quizzes. There are also some language exercises to help you with grammar, vocabulary and communicative aspects.

Each story and some of the exercises are accompanied by glossaries; alternatively you can download the Overall Glossary. Besides, you'll be able to download the Overall Grammar with all the grammar explanations along the course.

You should expect to spend 60- 75 hours online for the entire course, in order to achieve knowledge of Portuguese to CEFR level A1. By the end of the course you will find exercises and sections that aim beyond A1 level. E-learning is a flexible tool: it's up to you to choose both how much time you spend online and how you manage it. The more time you give to the course and the more regular your online activities are, the better results you will be able to achieve in learning Portuguese. Take your time, take enough time!
